Illinois Republican situation gets worse
Egg roll maker, lawyer, and politician Tom DeVore posts how Republicans had a private invite only forum with the gubernatorial candidates, according to a Facebook post.

The invitation.
And where?
This post from DuPage County Sheriff Jim Mendrick indicates it was in the Peoria area:

Who is Jon Blackburn? When did Aaron Del Mar announce?
Maybe that does not matter. Anyway, how can one watch this event if they were not invited?
Well, they can’t.
Recording of the debate between Republican candidates running for governor was prohibited by the Republican event organizers which means Republican voters are left in the dark about their own candidates.

The candidates are shown in this Facebook photo.

The invite-only crowd to the gubernatorial forum.

And Tom DeVore seems to thinks this situation is worth celebrating. See image below.
What he is really happy about is the fact that another candidate, Joe Severino, was not invited and is supposedly facing arrest.

(Great write-up from DeVore: No details about the content of the debate, but, hey, at least Joe Severino was not there! That is what really matters.)
The part about arrest was also mentioned by Severino who claims Schaumburg police have been weaponized by his political opponent (James Mendrick) who is a sheriff and his cadre which includes at least one felon and a Florida man.
It all has to do with Severino allegedly requesting deepfakes of Mendrick smoking meth with a 14-year-old. Severino denies the accusation.
It is unclear if Severino is in hiding or what is going on, but it seems DeVore and Severino finally agree on one thing: the police are involved.

I fail to see how any of this makes the Illinois Republican Party look like a serious political party or why any of this is worth celebrating.
DeVore’s post makes it sound like he had the best day ever.
What is supposed to be good about any of this?
How does anyone read this and not feel deeply embarrassed?

We live in a state that is objectively mismanaged and dominated by one party and this is the news we get about the minority party.
Allegations involving meth, minors, AI, and weaponized police; plus, candidate forums which you as a voter are not allowed to see.
