Marty Mohr Announces Candidacy for McHenry County Board, District 8

MARENGO, IL – Marty Mohr officially announced his candidacy today for the Republican nomination for McHenry County Board, District 8.

A seasoned professional and dedicated public servant, Mohr brings a wealth of experience in both the private sector and public service to his campaign, with a strong focus on community safety and fiscal responsibility.

Mohr, a McHenry County resident since 2012, has a notable background in risk management and public service.

He is currently employed as the Vice President of Risk Management for a national utility civil construction firm.

His professional expertise is complemented by extensive community involvement, including his service as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for Marengo Township Precinct 4 and as Secretary of the NorWest Townships Republican Committee.

He is currently President of the Marengo Park District Board of Commissioners where he was first elected in 2019.

“My career has been dedicated to identifying and mitigating risks to ensure safety and stability,” Mohr stated.

“I plan to bring that same proactive approach to the McHenry County Board. My focus will be on smart fiscal policies, responsible growth, and ensuring the safety of our county.”

Mohr’s commitment to public safety is also deeply rooted in his history as a volunteer firefighter.

From 1990 to 2002, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Bedford Township (MI) Volunteer Fire Department, where he rose through the ranks to serve as both a lieutenant and captain.

He was also the President of the Lambertville Firefighters Association for four years and was awarded the Chief’s Award for outstanding service in 1998.

In addition to his professional and public safety roles, Mohr serves as the current Chair of the City of Marengo Planning and Zoning Board and is a member of the McHenry County Community Development and Housing Grant Commission.

A long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, he is also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marengo.

Mohr’s campaign will center on community safety, fiscal responsibility, and responsible land use planning.

McHenry County District 8 is a largely rural district in Northwest  McHenry County and includes Harvard, Hebron and Richmond as well as the Western portion of the Village of Spring Grove, the Northern parts of the City of Marengo and a small section of Woodstock.

The Marengo Park District was in dire straights when Mohr was elected to its Board. Mohr brought it from near-financial collapse to stability.

Harvard’s Larry Smith, who first ran unsuccessfully as an Independent, then gained his County Board seat as a Republican, is up for re-election.
