From McHenry County:
Enterprise Zone racks up continued successes
Congratulations to the City of Woodstock, which announced last week that Action Packaging will be relocating its headquarters to the McHenry County Enterprise Zone!

Action Packaging was recently named by Crain’s Chicago Business as one of the 50 fastest-growing privately-held businesses in the Chicago area, and has made the Inc. 5000 list in 2024 and 2025 for being one of the fastest-growing companies in the country.
The McHenry County Enterprise Zone, located in parts of Woodstock, Marengo, and Harvard, offers businesses major tax benefits and savings, such as receiving a full exemption on state and local sales tax on qualified building materials, being able to deduct half a percent of the total project value from state income tax, receiving up to 8 years of tax abatement on improved properties (location dependent) and more!
Since its 2016 creation, the Enterprise Zone now encompasses 51 projects that have created 612 full-time equivalent jobs, with a total investment of $88.7 million. Action Packaging Finds a New Home in Woodstock, IL: A Strategic Move for Growth and Community Impact
In a move that signals both growth and commitment to long-term success, Action Packaging, a trusted name in packaging and supply solutions, has officially relocated its headquarters from Bensenville, IL to Woodstock, Illinois.

The transition marks a major milestone for the company, which has steadily grown its national presence over the past 45 years.
With a proven track record in serving the healthcare, industrial, and foodservice sectors, Action Packaging has become a key player in the packaging industry.
The new headquarters at 1191 Lake Avenue offers expanded space and enhanced logistical flexibility—essential components for supporting their continued growth.
This relocation is more than a simple change of address—it’s a strategic investment in both the company’s future and the community of Woodstock.
Why Woodstock?
Action Packaging’s leadership has made it clear: Woodstock wasn’t just a convenient choice, it was the right choice.
CEO Haley Cwynar praised the support from local leadership, including Mayor Mike Turner, Jessica Erickson, and Mark Piekos of the McHenry County Economic Development Corporation (MCEDC), for helping make this significant move possible.
“Our team is extremely happy to have found our forever-home in Woodstock,” said Cwynar. “We are excited to grow alongside Woodstock and be an active member in the community.
“That commitment begins immediately with the creation of 40 local jobs, and it’s clear that this is just the beginning. The move aligns perfectly with Woodstock’s economic development goals, as it brings new life to an existing facility and highlights the city’s appeal as a hub for modern manufacturing and business.”
A Partnership for Progress
Woodstock officials welcomed Action Packaging with open arms and a forward-looking vision. Mayor Turner expressed pride in the city’s ability to attract and support companies with strong growth potential:
“Woodstock remains committed to being the premier destination for businesses, residents, and visitors,” he said. “We’re proud to welcome Action Packaging as a valued addition to our business community.”
The McHenry County Economic Development Corporation also played a key role, working alongside the city to facilitate the site selection process. MCEDC Executive Director Mark Piekos emphasized that this move reflects the region’s strengths:
“Their decision affirms the talent, connectivity, and business-friendly environment that McHenry County offers.”
Recognition and Momentum
This relocation comes at a time of high achievement for Action Packaging. In 2025 alone, the company was named one of Crain’s Chicago Business Fast 50, and it earned a spot on the INC 5000 list for both 2024 and 2025. These accolades reflect a business that isn’t just growing—it’s accelerating.
Additionally, Action Packaging’s employee-first culture has made it a five-time winner of Best Places to Work in Illinois, from 2021 through 2025. It’s a company that believes when its team thrives, so does its service—and its recent growth is a testament to that philosophy.
A Bright Future Ahead
With its move to Woodstock, Action Packaging is planting deeper roots in a community that values innovation, economic development, and sustainable growth. This is more than a corporate relocation—it’s the beginning of a partnership between a thriving business and a forward-thinking city.
For Woodstock, it’s another step toward building a resilient, opportunity-rich local economy. For Action Packaging, it’s a new chapter that brings space to grow, people to serve, and a community to support.
