From the State’s Attorney:
CONNOR KIRKPATRICK SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS IN THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR RESIDENTIAL ARSON
McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese announces that on August 21, 2025, Connor Kirkpatrick, of Lakewood, Illinois, was sentenced to ten years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the charge of Residential Arson, a Class 1 felony.

A jury found Kirkpatrick guilty of the charge, at the conclusion of trial, on March 19, 2025.
The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Judge Tiffany Davis at the conclusion of a sentencing hearing held yesterday.
At trial, the State presented testimony and evidence, that on May 20, 2023, Kirkpatrick set fire to a single-family residence in Lakewood, Illinois.
Jurors heard from multiple responding officers from the Lakewood Police Department, the homeowner, and responding Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue personnel.
During investigation, officers, who had located Kirkpatrick nearby, testified that Kirkpatrick provided several different accounts of the events and his whereabouts, before ultimately admitting that he did indeed intentionally set fire to the residence.
Upon release from custody, Kirkpatrick will be placed on Mandatory Supervised Release for a period of one year.
State’s Attorney Freese commends the responding officers from the Lakewood Police Department and the Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue first responders for their immediate action in protecting the surrounding area and containing the fire.
“The work of these everyday heroes was on full display on this call. Lakewood Police Officers protected the residents of the homes nearby and apprehended a suspect while the firefighters worked to contain the blaze and minimize the damage,” Freese stated.
This case was successfully prosecuted at trial by Chief of Staff Ashley Romito and Assistant State’s Attorney Justin Neubauer.
