Sunday Night Algonquin Police Successfully Use De-escalation Tactics

Algonquin, IL – On the evening of Sunday, August 24, 2025, Algonquin Police Officers responded to a
residence in the 300 block of Diamondback Way for a reported domestic disturbance.

During the course of the investigation, officers encountered Kyle S. Goltz, age 35 (01/03/1990), who was
identified as the offender.

Goltz refused to cooperate with officers on scene, and out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement agencies were requested to assist.

Through the use of de-escalation tactics and other sound policing strategies, officers were able to safely bring the incident to a resolution.

The suspect ultimately exited the residence and was taken into custody without incident.

Goltz was charged with the following Illinois offenses:

  • Domestic Battery (720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(1))
  • Domestic Battery (720 ILCS 5/12-3.2(a)(2))
  • Aggravated Domestic Battery/Strangulation (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3(a-5))

At no time was there a threat to the public, this matter has been referred to the Kane County Judicial System. The suspect should be considered innocent until proven guilty.
