From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:
Structure Fire
On Tuesday, August 19th, at approximately 3:16 a.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of Kensington Drive in McHenry.
Fire crews arrived on the scene within four minutes to find a two-story home with heavy fire visible from the garage spreading to a neighboring home.
Responding crews were informed that everyone was out of the house.
The alarm was upgraded to a Working Fire, and a defensive fire attack was initiated due to the amount of fire involved.
The alarm was then upgraded to a MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Alarm to the Box Level, which brought in additional crews to the scene and staffed MTFPD stations.
Crew members then transitioned to an offensive attack and were able to search the home for victims.
The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes.
No residents or firefighters were injured.
The fire is currently under investigation, and a damage estimate is unavailable at this time.
The house is deemed uninhabitable.
The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced residents.
MTFPD was assisted either on scene or change of quarters by the Algonquin, Barrington-Countryside, Cary, Countryside, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Lake Villa, Nunda, Richmond, Round Lake, Spring Grove, Wauconda, and Wonder Lake fire departments.
