From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Fire on Madison Way
On August 9, 2025, at 5:13 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the 11000 block of Madison Way in Huntley for a reported residential structure fire.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and observed smoke coming from a two-story home, with flames visible from a second-floor exterior vent.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire, bringing additional personnel and resources to the scene.

Although the house was reportedly unoccupied at the time, crews made an initial entry to confirm no one was inside.

Firefighters stretched hose lines and quickly extinguished the fire, which had extended into the attic
space.

Crews remained on scene to conduct overhaul and check for any hidden fire.
The home sustained water and smoke damage, but the seven residents will be able to remain there once repairs are completed.

There were no pets in the home, and no injuries were reported.
An observant passerby and quick actions by responding firefighters saved the structure and a large portion of its contents.
A strong storm had moved through the area minutes before the call.
While the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District, a lightning strike is considered a possible cause.
We thank the responding agencies and our dispatchers for their assistance during this incident.
