MCHENRY POLICE ARREST ADULT MALE IN CONNECTION WITH CHILD PORNOGRAPHY INVESTIGATION
John Birk, Chief of Police of the McHenry Police Department, announced today the arrest of a male subject in connection with a criminal investigation involving the possession of child pornography.
NICOLAS K. RIENER, (age 24, DOB: 08/01/2001) of McHenry, Illinois, was arrested without incident by the McHenry Police Department on August 6, 2025.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program (ICAC) reported receiving a cybertip that a McHenry resident had been uploading and downloading child pornography information led to an investigation conducted by the McHenry Police Department’s Investigations Unit and the Illinois Attorney General’s Office where a search warrant was executed, interviews were conducted, and evidence collected.

After a review of the investigation thus far, felony charges for Possession of Child Pornography, Reproducing or Distrubuting Child Pornography were approved by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.
After Riener was taken into custody, he was processed through the McHenry Police Department book procedure and transported to the McHenry County Jail in Woodstock, Illinois, to await court proceedings.
NICOLAS K. RIENER was charged with:
- 7 counts of POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, VICTIM UNDER THE AGE OF 13
(Class 2 Felony) - 2 counts of POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY (Class 3 Felony)
- 5 counts of REPRODUCING OR DISTRUBUTING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY, VICTIM
UNDER THE AGE OF 13 (Class X Felony)
