A web site I have been reading is “Not the Bee.”

Thursday I found a takedown of a New York Times and the Daily Express.

The Daily Express ran the photo upon which both papers based their starving in Gaza stories.

Here is the front page of the Daily Express:

Here is an uncropped photo of the family:

Certainly the emaciated child looks horrific, but his bother looks healthy.

The New York Times ran a different view:

David Collier posted this on X:

“Mohammed suffers from cerebral palsy, has hypoxemia, and was born with a serious genetic disorder. He has required nutritional supplements since birth. A medical report issued in Gaza in May 2025 confirms all of this. This wasn’t disclosed in a single major outlet. 4/13”

From the New York Times article:

“Mohammed Zakaria al-Mutawaq, who is about 18 months old and was born during the war, lives with his mother and brother in a tent on a Gaza beach.

“Mohammed’s mother, Hedaya al-Mutawaq, 31, said the toddler’s father was killed last October when he went out to seek food.”

The defense I found from “status” is here.

What conclusion do you draw?
