From a Friend of McHenry County Blog:

Senate hopeful Robin Kelly boosted by gun control advocates

As Pritzker loses “muscle,” underdog Robin Kelly sees gains

McHenry County Blog reported over two months ago that “[Representative Robin] Kelly seems well respected among gun control advocates” and now that respect is coming to fruition.

Last night, Kelly joined former Representative Marie Newman (who was taken out by Sean Casten and the Democratic Party establishment in 2022) where they discussed several topics including gun violence & gun control.

Other topics included Medicaid, maternal healthcare, and government cuts.

The interview can be found here.

In addition to the amplification from Newman, Kelly recently received the endorsement of Brady PAC which is a well-known gun control group.

She will be making a strong push to win over the votes of progressives and women who are core constituencies of the Democratic Party.

With Lauren Underwood staying put in the U.S. House of Representatives, the case can be made that Robin Kelly benefits the most from Underwood’s decision.

McHenry County Blog also noted over two months ago that Kelly seemed well respected in the LGBT community, and Marie Newman’s support of Kelly should carry weight.

It was Newman who famously fought with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene over the display of a transgender flag.

(These two offices were directly across the hall from each other thanks to some “expert” in Washington D.C. who thought that was a wise idea.)

In a major blow to the influence of Governor and wannabee president JB Pritzker, no Democrat was able to string together enough support for the endorsement of the Cook County Democrats earlier this month.

Pritzker is backing his second-in-command, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, to succeed retiring Senator Dick Durbin.

Pritzker also took a humiliating blow in credibility when he went on a look-at-me trip threatening to gerrymander Illinois further if Texas pulls the trigger first, but when Illinois Senate President Don Harmon (D) was pressed on the issue by Capitol News’ Ben Szalinski, Harmon’s spokesperson refuted the governor’s partisan threat and said, “That’s not something we’re pursuing.”

The state legislature is not supposed to be in session until well after candidates begin petitioning, so Harmon’s spokesperson may be telling the truth: legislators may simply have no appetite to entertain Pritzker’s presidential ambitions especially when doing so is going to step on their own toes.

For what it’s worth, the media has been quiet about Pritzker’s threats for almost a week now.

Pritzker’s embarrassments don’t help Juliana Stratton, and she does need help because some polls have indicated she is not in the lead.

Meanwhile, on Raja Krishnamoorthi’s end, he’s just been jamming the internet and TV with ads. Presumably the radio too.

The only thing I can remember from these commercials is that at the end of them he says, “Call me Raja.”

From the commercial:

Calling him Raja is easier than calling him Representative Krishnamoorthi.

Raja’s ad blitzkrieg stands in contrast to Kelly and Stratton who are moving at slower paces.

Kelly and Stratton are hoping that slow and steady will win the race.
