RAUL ALVAREZ SENTENCED TO ELEVEN YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DELIVER A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi L. Freese announces that on August 1, 2025, Raul Alvarez, 38, of Chicago, Illinois, was sentenced to eleven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance.
Alvarez was sentenced by the Honorable Judge Mark Gerhardt after entering a negotiated plea of guilty.
On December 2, 2024, the deal was arranged to take place at a hotel in Crystal Lake, Illinois.
Law enforcement set up surveillance of Alvarez and watched him as he entered the parking lot of the hotel.
When Alvarez exited his vehicle and proceeded to walk into the hotel, he was arrested by members of the task force.
A search of his person was conducted at the time of the arrest, that showed Alvarez was in possession of 231 grams of cocaine.
The street value of this cocaine was worth approximately $23,000.
