From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Residential Fire on Kingsbury Court Leaves Home Uninhabitable
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 12:47 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to the 11200 block of Kingsbury Court in Huntley for a reported residential structure fire.

While en route, dispatch advised that the fire had possibly originated in the kitchen and was believed to be spreading quickly.

Firefighters arrived within six minutes and observed smoke coming from a two-story residential structure.

The incident was promptly upgraded to a working fire, bringing in additional personnel, suppression apparatus, and change of quarters companies.

Crews coordinated a quick interior attack, gaining control of the fire and getting water on it within minutes.

By 12:58 p.m., the fire was declared extinguished.

Primary and secondary searches confirmed both occupants had safely exited the home before first responders arrived.
Five cats were reported to be inside the residence.
All were located, including one that was treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation.

Thankfully, all five animals are alive and accounted for.
Thanks to the quick work of responding crews, fire damage was contained to the kitchen area; however, smoke damage extended throughout the home.
The house has been deemed temporarily uninhabitable until necessary cleaning and repairs can be completed.
One firefighter was evaluated on scene for symptoms believed to be related to heat exhaustion.
The fire occurred during a very warm and muggy afternoon, with a heat index in the upper 80s and humidity near 85 percent.
No injuries were reported.The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
