From the Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department:
Working Fire – 420 E Terra Cotta Ave
Crystal Lake, IL – The Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department at 1:17pm, responded to 420 E Terra Cotta Ave, Crystal Lake IL for an inside smoke investigation.

Upon arrival on scene, fire crews noted evacuation in progress with light smoke coming from within the commercial structure and prepared for offensive fire operations.
The alarm was upgraded to a working structure fire. Upon entering the commercial structure, fire crews reported smoky conditions and located a piece of equipment as the source of the fire.
Due to the nature of the materials within the machine a hazmat response was required and the alarm was upgraded to a HAZMAT incident.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and isolate it to one machine.
One Crystal Lake Firefighter was later evaluated at the hospital for smoke inhalation precautions.
The building was cleared of smoke and turned over to the property owner.
Area fire departments including Nunda FPD, McHenry FPD, Huntley FPD and Algonquin FPD, Mutual Aide was also requested with additional departments responding from McHenry and Lake County, who assisted the Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department on scene and within the Fire Protection District.
