From the State’s Attorney:

ELIEZER MURRIETA-GONZALEZ SENTENCED TO SEVEN YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT

McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi L. Freese announces that on July 14, 2025, Eliezer Murrieta-Gonzalez, 25, of McHenry, Illinois, was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Criminal Sexual Assault, a Class 1 felony.

The sentence was handed down by the Honorable Judge Tiffany Davis after Murrieta-Gonzalez entered into a negotiated plea of guilty to the offense.

In July of 2024, the McHenry Police Department investigated a report of sexual assault against a minor child residing in the same household as Murrieta-Gonzalez.

The child reported that Murrieta-Gonzalez had committed an act of sexual penetration and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Hospital for an exam.

During the exam, injuries were noted consistent with the child’s disclosure.

Murrieta-Gonzalez ultimately confessed to assaulting the child when interviewed by officers of the McHenry Police Department.

An individual convicted of criminal sexual assault is not eligible for probation under Illinois law and faces a potential penalty range of 4-15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Based on the absence of prior criminal conduct and input from the victim’s family, Murrieta-Gonzalez was sentenced to seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Truth-In-Sentencing requires that Murrieta-Gonzalez serve a minimum of 85 percent on his sentence prior to his release.

Upon release, he will be placed on a period of Mandatory Supervised Release for between three years to natural life.

Murrieta-Gonzalez will also be required to register as a sexual predator for the rest of his natural life.

State’s Attorney Freese commends the child for bravely coming forward immediately following the assault.

A special thanks to Detectives Birk and Officers Noyes and Campos of the McHenry Police Department for their thorough investigation, as well as the skilled nursing staff of Northwestern Medicine Hospital for providing the minor child with proper care and attention.

This case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Shelby Page.
