From the McHenry Fire Protection District:
Waterford Road Fire
On Thursday, July 10th, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to an inside smoke investigation in the 6900 block of Waterford Drive in McHenry.

Fire crews arrived on the scene within five minutes to find a two-story single-family residence with fire visible in the peaked corner of the roof.
The fire was immediately upgraded to a structure fire to bring in additional MTFPD resources.
Crews quickly deployed a hoseline and accessed the attic through a scuttle to conduct fire suppression and check for potential extension.
All occupants had safely exited the home prior to our arrival.
The fire was brought under control within ten minutes, and no injuries were reported to residents or firefighters.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation; however, early signs suggest the home was likely struck by lightning during the severe weather.
