Structure Fire Oak Leaf Road, Lake in the Hills
On Thursday, July 10th at approximately 11:30 pm the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a detached garage that was struck by lightning on the 300 block of Oak Leaf Road in Lake in the Hills.

First arriving fire crews arrived on the scene and found a detached two-car garage with fire coming from the roof of the structure.
Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to the involved structure and located a fire at the peak of the roof.
The fire was brought under control in 20 minutes, and additional crews remained on scene completing overhaul, and addressing hotspots.
The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Lake in the Hills Police Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, and the SEECOM Dispatch Center.
The cause of the fire was determined to be a lightning strike. A damage estimate is not yet available.
