From Woodstock’s Rich Rostron, The Response:
Some are riled as Leftist media pushes panic over Big Beautiful Bill
Bob fumbled and cursed as he dug for the money to pay his bill at the coffeeshop where I was behind him in line. I thought he was trying to hurry on my account and told him, “It’s okay, Bob. I’ve got time.”
“YOU’VE GOT TIME?!” he barked at me.
“Haaa!

“You’ve got less time than you think, pal.”
I was caught off guard by his comment and asked, “What do you mean?”
“Haven’t you been paying attention?” he growled, as though I had said something deeply offensive.
I pay attention to some things, such as what’s going on in the country these days, but Bob’s comment was a bit vague.
“What are you talking about?” I asked.
He looked at me as though I had three eyes and barked, “THE BILL – ‘THE BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL.’” Then he laughed derisively.
“Of course, I’ve been paying attention,” I said.
“You know I stay up on the news.”
“Then you should know what I’m talking about,” he said.
“You’re on Social Security, too.”
“What about Social Security?” I asked.
Bob shook his head, rolled his eyes and spoke to me as though talking to a 2-year old, “You’re about to lose your Social Security, pal.
“Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ is about to kick folks like us off Social Security.”
I should have known this is where Bob was going.
From prior conversations, I know that he gets his ‘news’ from one source and it’s a source that has lost all credibility with most Americans, including me.
“Bob,” I said, in a reassuring tone, “you’re not going to lose your Social Security.”
“That’s what you think,” he snorted.
“Trump is going after your Social Security and he’s gonna kick people off Medicaid and Medicare.
“It’s all right there in the bill.”
“Trust me, Bob, he’s not going to take your Social Security away,” I said.
“In fact, he’s going to give retirees, like us, a $5,000 tax credit to go with our Social Security.
“And he’s not kicking anyone off anything unless they don’t belong there in the first place.
“For instance, the Democrats have put almost everyone on Medicaid.
“All the new bill says is that, if you’re able bodied, you should work or do some community service if you’re receiving Medicaid.
“That seems pretty reasonable.”
“I don’t know where you get this crap,” said Bob.
“Probably watching that FOXNews again, aren’t you?”
“Like I’ve told you before, Bob, I watch a variety of media outlets,” I said.
“And I’ve also told you before that the channels you watch like to rile people up and create panic, at least whenever Republicans control either of the Houses or the White House.”
Bob snorted, “You just wait.
“You’ll find out.
“You’ll see what your boy, Trump, does to you.”
I didn’t see the point in riling Bob up any further so I didn’t point out that I’m pretty happy with what Trump has ‘done to me’ so far or that I’ve seen Bob unnecessarily panic before.
I understand that fermenting panic is the Left’s standard operating procedure.
