From the Huntley Police Department:
Child Pornography and Solicitation Arrest
In June of 2023, Huntley Police Officers took a report from a parent who found disturbing content on their 14-year-old son’s phone.
It appeared the juvenile was communicating with multiple unidentified adults, who were exchanging images of child pornography with the juvenile.
The Huntley Police Department Investigations Division began reviewing the victim’s devices and found conversations on various social media and communication applications in which unidentified adults initiated sexually explicit text.
Huntley Police Detectives located a messaging chain through Skype, in which an unidentified adult male initiated sexually explicit text and live video conversations with the victim after the juvenile disclosed his age.
Additionally, the adult tried to arrange meetings with the juvenile and offered to provide cannabis products in exchange for sexual acts.
Due to the anonymous nature of the applications used, identifying the suspect was difficult.
Huntley Police Department detectives worked diligently to retrieve data from devices and filed multiple search warrants and subpoenas for different online accounts in an effort to uncover the offender.
Analysis of the evidence eventually led to the identification of the offender, Robert L. Wilkinson.
On Thursday, June 26, 2025, with the assistance of McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies, Huntley Police
Detectives interviewed and subsequently arrested Robert L. Wilkinson at his home at 91 Peninsula Lane in Port Barrington, IL.

Robert L. Wilkinson was charged
- 2 counts of Child Pornography – Solicitation, a Class X felony; and
- one count of Solicitation to Meet a Child for Unlawful Purposes, a Class 4 felony.
He was transported to McHenry County Jail pending a detention hearing.
This is still an active investigation and no further details will be released at this time.
Use of a victim-centered and trauma-informed approach was especially important in this investigation due to the nature of the allegations and the age of the victim.
The victim and his family were kept informed of the process and we moved forward at a speed that was comfortable for them.
We thank the Child Advocacy Centers of McHenry County and Walworth County, WI (CAC) for assisting us in our interviews in this case.
