Fatal Motorcycle Crash Near Hebron

A 44-year-old Crystal Lake man has died following a crash near Hebron in Greenwood Township on Wednesday, June 11.

On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at approximately 5:23 p.m., members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation District Police, Hebron/Alden/Greenwood Fire Protection District, McHenry County Emergency Management Agency, and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office responded to a three-vehicle crash near the 5800 block of Route 47.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on US Route 47 and a 2016 Ford Explorer was traveling northbound.

The Harley Davidson crossed over the center line, striking the Ford in the northbound lane and then striking a trailer pulled by a 2018 Chevrolet pickup truck.

A 44-year-old Crystal Lake male, driving the motorcycle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 42-year-old Hebron male, the driver of the Ford, was uninjured and not transported.

A 32-year-old Hebron male and the 34-year-old male passenger in the Ford were also uninjured and not transported.  

Alcohol is believed to be a factor of the crash.

The driver of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner Office.
