NICHOLAS CAMMARATA SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR UNLAWFUL RESTRAINT AND VIOLATION OF AN ORDER OF PROTECTION

he McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office announces that on May 30, 2025, Nicholas Cammarata, of Prairie Grove, IL, was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to the felony offense of Unlawful Restraint before the Honorable Judge Tiffany Davis.

Cammarata also pled guilty to add the felony offense Violating an Order of Protection.

On September 10, 2024, Cammarata pushed the victim, his girlfriend, to the ground causing pain to her back.

Cammarata then forced her into his truck against her will and drove into Lake County.

Once Cammarata stopped the truck, the victim was able to escape and contact the authorities.

The victim then obtained an Order of Protection against Cammarata, which he violated by texting her in the middle of the night. 

The State’s Attorney’s Office recognizes the diligent efforts of the members of the Prairie Grove Police Department and the Grayslake Police Department for their thorough investigation. 

This case was successfully prosecuted by McHenry County State’s Attorney Special Prosecutor William Bruce.
