From State Rep. Joe Sosnowski:

Rep. Sosnowski statement on FY26 Budget

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Rockford) issued the following statement upon passage of the FY26 state budget by the Illinois House of Representatives on Saturday:

“Illinois citizens cannot afford more out-of-control spending, misplaced priorities, higher taxes, and more inflation.

“This budget raises another $1 billion in taxes on Illinois’ working families and job creators.

“Tax, spend, tax, spend, repeat. That is the Illinois Democrat playbook.

This budget increases baseline spending using temporary revenue sources from dedicated funds, meaning Illinois tax-and-spend Democrats will surely be back next year to raise taxes even higher to pay for even more spending.

Democrats have turned over unprecedented authority to make spending decisions to Governor Pritzker in this budget.

We have seen Governor Pritzker rule by emergency order before, and the results were disastrous for Illinois taxpayers and businesses. This budget will lead to bad outcomes for Illinois families.”

Representative Sosnowski serves the 69th District which includes portions of Winnebago, Boone, and McHenry Counties.
