From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

Highland Dr. Fire

On May 20th at approximately 1:50 pm, the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to a reported oven fire.

Crews arrived in 7 minutes to find a 2 story single family home with heavy smoke coming from the front door.

All residents were out of the house prior to arrival.

The fire was immediately upgraded to a Working Fire, bringing in extra resources to the scene.

Crews began an aggressive interior attack, while also searching the home.

The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

There was significant fire damage to the kitchen and smoke and water damage throughout the home.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation and the home is deemed uninhabitable.

MTFPD was assisted by Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Round Lake, Nunda, Richmond, Spring Grove, Wauconda, Wonder Lake, and Woodstock fire departments either on scene or covering our stations.
