Nunda Township Officials and Trustees Begin New Terms with Swearing-In Ceremonies

Crystal Lake, IL – Nunda Township’s new leadership team, Highway Commissioner Rob Parrish, Township Clerk Kyle Bussenger, and Township Supervisor Mike Shorten, were sworn in on April 30, 2025, by Judge Robert C. Zalud.

The ceremony was held to meet a state requirement that the Highway Commissioner take the oath within 10 days of election certification, marking a key step for the township’s incoming officials.

Parrish, with 45 years of experience in asphalt paving and 38 years in snow removal, will oversee road maintenance.

Bussenger will manage township records and transparency as clerk.

Shorten, a current McHenry County Board member with prior township experience, will lead as supervisor. All three will officially start their roles on May 19, 2025.

On Monday, May 19, 2025, at 8 am, new trustees Sheila Halasz (I), Bob Murray (I), and Joe Bratanick (I) will take their oaths at Nunda Town Hall, 3510 Bay Road, Crystal Lake.

They will join returning trustee Karen Tynis (I), who took her oath in a private ceremony, to serve on the township board.

The first regularly scheduled meeting of the board will take place at the Town Hall on Thursday, June 12th at 7:00pm.
