Three-Vehicle Crash near Hebron

Multiple people were injured following a crash near Hebron, on Sunday, May 11.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at 6:55 a.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Offic, Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District, Woodstock Fire/Rescue District, Wonder Lake FireProtection District, Harvard Fire Protection District and Mercyhealth MD-1 responded to a three-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 47 and Thayer Road in unincorporated McHenry County, near Hebron.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2024 Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound on Thayer Road and failed to yield prior to entering the intersection, hitting a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was traveling northbound on Illinois Route 47.

The Jeep was then struck by a southbound 2024 International semi with trailer.

The 51-year-old male driver of the Jeep, from Woodstock, was airlifted from the scene to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville in serious condition.

The 51-year-old female passenger of the Jeep, also from Woodstock, was transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries.

The 32-year-old male driver of the Toyota, from Chicago, was transported to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with minor injuries.

The 34-year-old driver of the International, from Streamwood, was not injured.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash
Investigation Unit.
