Can’t get much better than the major front page article in the Chicago Tribune.

That’s what wanna be Jan Schakowsky successor Kat Abughazaleh scored today,

The Tribune selected a demure photo to run.

Not one of the racy pictures she has posted on Instagram.

The Tribune reports that she has “thin connections to the district,” as in NON before announcing.

However, since then, she has found Algonquin because the story says she attended a rally with Veterans in Algonquin.

All of Algonquin Township is in Schakowsky’s 9th Congressional District.

State Senator Laura Fine, who has also announced, gets coverage in the piece.

She even rates a photo on page 4.

Potential candidates get mentioned, too:

  • State Senator Mike Simmons of Chicago, “Illinois first openly gay member”
  • Bushra Amiwala, School School Board member of Skokie School District 73.5, “one of the first Gen A elected officials in the U.S.

North Shore political activists pooh-poohed Abughazaleh chances.

Kat did raise $350,000 in her first month from her internet followers, however, more than her opponents have in dollars that can be spent on a Federal campaign.

The story tells of her opposition to Israeli actions against Hamas in Gaza, but strangely, her website’s issue page makes not a mention of the issue.

Fine has been described as a “pro-Israeli favorite” in Jewish Insider.

The Tribune does, however allude to her use of the F-word in her announcement video:
