FIVE MCHENRY COUNTY RESTAURANTS INVITE THE COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL SALVATION ARMY WEEK
Community members who dine at one of five participating locations from May 12-18 can ask for a portion of the sales to be donated to the local Salvation Army
[CRYSTAL LAKE, ILLINOIS] — The Salvation Army in McHenry County is celebrating National Salvation Army Week from May 12-18, 2025, and local restaurants are showing their support by donating a portion of sales to help the organization continue meeting the needs of 6000 local neighbors who need it most each year.
Funds raised will help The Salvation Army meet the increasing need for social services, including shelter through emergency rent and utility assistance, overcoming food insecurity through its food pantry, providing comfort and care for survivors and first responders through emergency disaster response services, and Christmas gifts for children.
The community can enjoy a meal and help their neighbors who need it the most by visiting participating locations during the days and times below. For a portion of the sales to be donated, diners should mention

In 1954, the United States Congress and then-President Dwight D. Eisenhower proclaimed the first National Salvation Army Week as a reminder to Americans to give freely of themselves. In his speech, Eisenhower said: “Among Americans, The Salvation Army has long been a symbol of wholehearted dedication to the cause of human brotherhood. In times of war, the men and women of this organization have brought friendliness and warm concern to those serving their country far from home. In the quieter days of peace, their work has been a constant reminder to us all that each of us is a neighbor and kin to all Americans. Giving freely of themselves, the men and women of The Salvation Army have won the respect of us all.”
By dining at one of the locations, the community can follow in the spirit of President Eisenhower’s call to help those who need it most here in McHenry County.
