House Fire in Unincorporated Johnsburg
On Monday, April 28, 2025, at approximately 12:05 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched to the 2000 block of W. Oakleaf Dr. in unincorporated Johnsburg for a report of a structure fire.

MTFPD arrived in four minutes to find heavy fire on the side of the house extending into the second-floor bedrooms and attic.
The alarm was upgraded to a Working Fire response.
Crews quickly initiated an attack on the fire from both the interior and exterior, while searching for a civilian who had been reported to possibly still be in the house.
It was confirmed that all occupants had evacuated before the arrival of the fire department.
The fire caused extensive heat, smoke, and water damage throughout the home, making it uninhabitable.
There were no civilian or firefighter injuries.
Smoke detectors were present but did not alert the occupants.
The cause of the fire was unknown at the time of this release and is under investigation by MTFPD fire investigators.
Fire departments from Antioch, Cary, Fox Lake, Nunda, Richmond, Round Lake, Spring Grove, Wauconda, and Wonder Lake responded to the scene or provided change of quarters to cover the district for other emergencies.
