The Black female first-term State Representative JB Pritzker picked from obscurity to run as his candidate for Lieutenant Governor in 2017, Juliana Stratton, is his now candidate to replace U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.
Durbin was Pritzker’s only serious rival in Illinois Democratic Party politics.
In their latest face-off, Pritzker’s candidate to head the Illinois Democratic Party beat Durbin’s.
The announcement pretty much knocks Black Congresswomen Lauren Underwood and Robin Kelly out of the running.
In fact, it probably narrows the field to two serious candidates–Stratton and Raja Krishnamoorthi, the only candidate with serious money–over $19 million–in the bank.
Durbin has said he does not plan to make an endorsement, which, of course, coiuld chanfe now that Pritzker has crashed the party.
