From the Woodstock Police:

Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon

On Wednesday, April 16th at 9:27 PM, it was reported to the Woodstock Police Department that a verbal altercation had occurred in the 200 block of Main St.

During the verbal altercation, it was reported that a firearm had been displayed by one of the individuals.

Responding officers met with the reporting persons, who advised they were followed to the 200 block of Main St. by individuals known to them from pervious disagreements they had been involved in.

A verbal altercation ensued between the four involved subjects, when one of the subjects, identified as Salvador Herrera (M/19), displayed a handgun and pointed it at one of the victims.

Herrera and his accomplice, Cervantes, Elias (M/19) left the scene.

The gun was not discharged and was located shortly after the incident occurred and was secured by the officers.

Cervantes was arrested on-scene, and Herrera (who was not on-scene) was later arrested on 4/21/2025 on Criminal Arrest Warrants which, after having conferred with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, had been issued for this incident.

  • Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (Class 4 Felony)
  • Obstructing Justice (Class 4 Felony)
  • Aggravated Assault – Deadly Weapon (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Aggravated Assault – Public Way (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Conduct (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of a Firearm Without a FOID (Class A Misdemeanor)
  • Possession of Ammunition Without a FOID (Class A Misdemeanor)

Court Date: 4/29/2025, Detained or Released: Detained

2 – Elias Cervantes, Hoy Avenue, Woodstock

Charge:

  • AGG UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPON
  • OBSTRUCT JUSTICE

Court Date: 5/13/2025, Disposition: ARRESTED & TOT MCJ
