On Election Night it appeared that Nunda Township Clerk Joni Smith had enough votes to win re-election.

She was 135 votes ahead.

But, when outstanding mail-in votes were added to Election Night totals, challenger Kyle Bussenger ended up in front by seventeen votes.

Bussenger is an ally of incoming Nunda Township Supervisor Mike Shorten.

Similarly, Election Night totals for Township Trustee showed two of four Shorten allies were ahead–Shela Halasz and Bob Murray.

Folding in the mail-in votes that did not arrive by election day shows a third Shorten ally–Joe Bratanick– is edging out Justin Franzke by 119 votes.

That gives Shorten a four to one majority on the Township Board.
