From the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District:

Fire Response at Creekside Middle School

On Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 8:59 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to Creekside Middle School, 3201 Hercules Road, for a reported structure fire.

Initial reports indicated a possible electrical fire in the teachers lounge, with callers stating they saw flames coming from a light fixture.

Firefighters arrived within four minutes to find the building being evacuated and no visible fire from the outside.

Crews entered the building and encountered substantial smoke coming from the teachers lounge, located adjacent to the main entrance.

Upon investigation, firefighters determined the source to be a pendant-style light fixture.

With the electricity to the room already shut off by staff, no active fire was present.

Firefighters ventilated the building to clear the smoke, which had traveled throughout the school.

A basketball practice was underway at the time, but with limited occupancy after hours, the incident was managed without injuries, damage, or further complications.
