As I write this at almost ten o’clock on Election Night, all the votes cast on Election Day have been counted in Algonquin and Nunda Townships. About a fourth are still missing from Grafton Township.

There are three of the largest four townships in McHenry County representing over one-third of the county’s population.

The voter turnout was abysmal.

No, that deserves an exclamation mark.

Abysmal!

Only in Nunda Township will there be a contest on April 1st, when all school board, municipal, park district, library district and fire protection district officials will be elected’

In Nunda Township there will be an all out war between incumbent Road Commissioner Mijke Lespeance and Township Trustee Rob Parrish.

Three elections ago, on a snowy day, Lesperance beat Parrish by three votes.
