There is a Republican slate of candidates on the February GOP Primary Election.

They are

Supervisor

  • Leda Bobera-Drain
  • Mike “Shorty” Shorten

Road Commissioner

  • Iron Mike Lesperance

Assessor

  • Mark Dzemske

Clerk

  • Joni Smith

Trustee (four to be elected)

  • Karen Tynis
  • Justin Franzke
  • Mille Rogulic
  • Jordan Frank

All are guaranteed of election but Road Commissioner Mike Lesperance.

The reason is that he has an opponent in the April General Election named Rob Parrish.

It is a re-run of the 2013 Republican Primary contest in which Lesperance won by three votes.

It was a three-way contest among incumbent Don Kopsell, Lesperance and Parrish.

The vote was

  • 892 -Lesperance (35.69%)
  • 889 – Parrish (35.57%)
  • 718 – Kopsell (28.73%)

Parrish and his brother Tim ran and were elected Township Trustees in the two subsequent township elections. Tim has recently moved out of Nunda Township, so is no longer a Trustee, but Rob remains.

The two birddogged Lesperance during the past eight years.
