Message of the Day – Enough
Snow.Enough already.
How many times must I shovel the driveway?
I can’t even see the thermometer to find out the temperature.
No school in Crystal Lake toady.County government closed its doors.
My son and his friend are happy.
They got wet playing in the snow this morning.
But, I remember manning the Treasurer’s Office in the old courthouse during the 1967 snow storm.
That day, it was quite hazardous driving up Route 14 to the Woodstock Square.
It was one-lane around the curve that is now before McHenry County College.
I was thinking, “What happens if a car comes the other way”

Message of the Day – Temperature
Actually, falling temperatures. At 2:30 in the afternoon, the temperature was
48 degrees on the thermometer outside our kitchen window. When I got home from the Algonquin Township candidates’ night at the Cary-Grove Country Club about 9 PM, my car’s thermometer read 6 degrees.
And, the weather forecasters were saying it would drop even lower.
So, a 40-plus degree drop in temperature in a quarter of a day.
And this morning right before school, a bit under zero.

Message of the Day – A Fort and a Snowman
I couldn’t let the warm spell pass without a note. So, I took this picture of our thermometer outside the kitchen window.
I think it reads 63 degrees.
The only snow in sight is the toilet paper holder snowman.
What a change from last week, when my son and a friend were playing in an enormous snow fort. The snow was even higher while the temperature was below 20 degrees.
It took a lot of foot pounds to get the snow almost as high has the lantern in our front year.
And, boy, was I sore.
