The Six “P’s” of Dennis Hastert’s Life

Dennis Haster’s biography’s cover.

Several times I have explained the three “P’s” that Republican National Committee Field Director Ray Humphries taught a campaign school in Jacksonville in about 1968.

He said they explained the motivations that people had for seeking public office:

  • Power
  • Prestige
  • Pecuniary

The third one is a bit awkward, but it refers to monetary rewards.

All three undoubtedly motivated former Illinois State Representative and U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert to seek appointment to the Illinois House and election to Congress. (He beat future State Rep. Tom Johnson in the GOP primary for Congress.)

During the course of his indictment we learned that the man who once represented a small part of McHenry County (Coral Township, I believe) had another “P” before he entered public service:

  • Pedophilia

Today, Hastert will learn which of two more “P’s” he will face during the rest of his life:

  • Probation
  • Prison

The Six “P’s” of Dennis Hastert’s Life — 42 Comments

  1. If Ray Humphries was right about the pecuniary interests ask yourselves why people elect Rauner a multi millionaire and want Trump who think they will be good because they are rich and are businessmen. Businessmen go for the bottom line, even if that means outsourcing, layoffs, and taking promised pensions and benefits away. They only want to help themselves.

  2. Honest Abe term limits would not have solved the Hastert problem.

Both parties are corrupt but Republicans have wrapped themselves up in a make believe image of the flag, apple pie, and family men while cheating and sending jobs to the lowest bidder.

Then no matter what they do they say God forgives them and people accept this.

Hastert and other politicians should have their pensions taken away.

Hillary needs this also as she is as much of a corporation as is Trump.

Don’t say you believe in Jesus who loved the little children but turn the other way with child molesters and Hastert is not the only one.

  3. Child Molesters..Pedophilia….

these wrestlers were of an age where they know better or at least should have known better….

so if they went along with Dennises queer program they must have been queer also…

    or queer leaning…..

Dennis should be charged for sex crimes…but not child molesting and pedophilia….

and all his blackmailers and those that knew of blackmailing should be charged …..
I am surprised that the IRS missed an Opportunity to collect taxes on the blackmail money

  4. Bill children are children until the age of 18 at least.

    Do you have children?

Tom Cross, republican Illinois leaders brother was abused.

With all the religious nutcakes preaching sin children are afraid to speak up against authority figures.

Anyone who sticks up for child abusers whether they are priests, politicians, or others needs mental health and are just as guilty as the molesters.

  5. I am sure Hastert did not stop abusing after he gave up teaching and hope more victims come to light.

These so called famous people that others defend like Hastert, Bill Clinton and even Bill Cosby belong in jail and mental institutions.

  6. 16 months – the order of the court.

He was pinched because he covered up a crime he could no longer be exposed to jeopardy.

Had he said to his blackmailer FU he would never been charged.

You would expect a Hobbs Act extortion case to be advanced against the blackmailer.

  7. To short of a time and a large monetary payback would of been nice.

  8. I don’t think the Hobbs act applies in this case.

I do agree he should never have given a penny to the blackmailer.

  9. hey Karma…

I do have children 9 of them and a bunch of grand kids….

I totally hate child abusers God help them If I find them first….

I think the point I was trying to make is I believe he is guilty of sex abuse..

Not child abuse just due to the age factors involved..

my question is how old does the person have to be, to be the victim..

or old to be a young queer that is going along with the situation…………

at age 18 I would have handed him his teeth….

don’t forget we are talking wrestlers here not the nerdy school tiddlywinks team…………

I have had 18 year old children and grandchildren in uniform with guns in hand and boots on the ground…………

so forgive me if I don’t buy into the child crap….

I think we are all on the same page just wording it differently

  10. Sorry, but this is still a cover up.

It goes way deeper and Dennis just took the fall so that the rest of the pedophiles can keep their slimey little lives a secret (only from us).

He got bit by his own law.

The Patriot Act is how they came up with the charges.

  11. At least 296 educators have been found guilty of sex crimes in Illinois alone.

That includes all job positions: teachers, assistants, principals, superintendents, maintenance, custodial, etc.

  12. A few notes about the above comment.

The above figure is almost entirely in public schools.

There are additional crimes in private schools, Catholic schools, Lutheran Schools, swim clubs, sports clubs, preschool, daycare, before school programs, after school programs, etc.

It includes inappropriate touching and such, not strictly limited to intercourse.

It includes male on female, female on male, female on female, male on male.

It happens at school, on the school bus, after school (teacher gives kid a ride home, etc.), at camps, you name it.

Just as in the criminal justice system at large, false accusations do occur.

The worst behavior by the public schools was a practice known as passing the trash, were a suspected perpetrator was allowed to resign, often with a letter of recommendation, thus they are out of the school district, but did not lose their license, and many went on to teach in another school district.

If suspected abuse takes place, contact the police and DCFS, not the school district.

    But guess what.

Some school boards have a policy where if an employee suspects another employee of abuse, the supervisor must be notified.

Well what if the suspected abuse is by the supervisor?

The wrong approach would be to contact only the school district; instead, include the police and DCFS as well, so the district is not tempted to conduct their own internal investigation; irregardless if the law says DCFS should be notified of suspected abuse, that has not always occurred.

  13. Educators convicted of felonies lose their pensions.

    ———————–

One of the hypocrisies in public education is all the money spent on security at the front door to buzz people in and out, some schools even have bullet proof glass.

But the vast majority of crimes are committed by educators against children, not some crazed student with a gun or some crazed parent or public citizen busting into the school and taking hostages.

The emphasis is in the wrong place.

Not that we should have secure front doors, but where’s the balance given the evidence points to more problems elsewhere.

  14. Bill Matteson – At least one of the boys was just 14 at the time of the abuse, and this was decades ago when not nearly as much of this kind of thing was out in the open.

Why wouldn’t a young boy have spoken out about it?

Fear no one would believe their word against an authority figure (especially a beloved coach at school), embarrassment, guilt that they couldn’t or didn’t stop it, fear that somehow they did something to cause / deserve it….

In answer to your question of how old a child has to be to be considered a victim?

In the state of IL any act of a sexual nature with a child under 18 by an adult in a position of authority or trust is ILLEGAL.

So even if any of those young boys was 17 years, 364 days old – the sexual abuse they endured was ILLEGAL – they were not old enough to have given consent.

(To comment that because a CHILD went along with it they must have been queer too is a very ignorant remark. Whether or not any these young boys were “queer leaning”, as you so ridiculously stated, is totally irrelevant to their abuse.)

And who knows how many kids Hastert really abused – the government found a handful, but do any of us honestly believe that’s all there was?

  15. Being in a position of trust and authority allows molesters to more easily manipulate and groom victims.

Some perpetrators are very adept at picking vulnerable kids (parents separated or divorced or marital trouble at home, stress due to whatever factor, disability, etc.).

Even if a kid is a willing participant, due to the trust and authority factor, the kid can later suffer various psychological issues such as lack of trust in others.

Of the 296, at least 14 were wrestling coaches.

At least 16 were football coaches.

Some coached both wrestling and football.

Just as with the church sex abuse scandals, some of the victims were macho studs.

    Even studs can be manipulated.

The studs under 18 who participated willingly in these cases usually suffer some form of damage.

Most who thought they were willing participants later realize they were manipulated.

    There are always exceptions.

  16. There are 20 different public sector pension systems in Illinois.

Two of the 18 are Downstate Police and Chicago Police.

The rules are found in the Illinois Pension Code.

    —————-

Article 3 – Police Pension Fund – Municipalities 500,000 and Under (cities, villages and towns outside Chicago…some smaller municipalities don’t participate).

    “Felony conviction.

None of the benefits provided in this Article shall be paid to any person who is convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with his or her service as a police officer.”

    —————————

    Article 5 – Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund – Cities over 500,000 (i.e. Chicago).

    “Felony Conviction.

None of the benefits provided for in this Article shall be paid to any person who is convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with his service as a policeman.

None of the benefits provide for in this Article shall be paid to any person who is convicted of any felony while in receipt of disability benefits.

None of the benefits provided for in this Article shall be paid to any person who is convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with the intentional and wrongful death of a police officer, either active or retired, through whom such person would become eligible to receive, or is receiving, an annuity under this Article.”

  17. A third pension fund which includes police is IMRF.

The title for a county police officer is Sheriff Deputy.

Sheriff’s Deputies participate in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), which is another of the 20 public sector pension systems in Illinois.

Article 7 – Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund

    “Felony conviction.

None of the benefits provided for in this Article shall be paid to any person who is convicted of any felony relating to or arising out of or in connection with his service as an employee.”

    ————-

Within IMRF are three categories: Regular, Sheriff Law Enforcement Program (SLEP), and Elected County Official (ECO).

County Sheriff Deputy’s are in IMRF SLEP.

Some municipalities such as Woodstock also participate in SLEP; which must be for a small group of employees or maybe one employee or maybe even a past employee as Woodstock police are in the Downstate Police Pension Fund; one of the many anomalies in the Illinois Pension Code.

    —————-

    As a side note.

Police are also found in Conservation Districts, Forest Preserves, and units of government other than those listed above.

Not sure if McHenry County Conservation District police participate in IMRF SLEP; seems they participate in IMRF Regular.

A few Forest Preserve Districts participate in IMRF SLEP:

    – DuPage County Forest Preserve

    – Lake County Forest Preserve

    – Will County Forest Preserve

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County participates in IMRF SLEP.

  18. Will Denny Hastert write a book, How to Protect Your Child From Being Abused by a Person Like Me?

Will the Illinois Education Association write a book, How to Protect Your Child From Being Abused in Public Schools by Teacher Union Members?

    Probably not.

We don’t want kids or anyone to be paranoid, but we do want to help kids learn how to best protect themselves, and educate others on what to watch for, and we have a long way to go in those areas.

  19. Bill, I’m sure they were groomed because your average wrestler doesn’t fall victim too easily.

Keep in mind this was in the very rural small town of Yorkville.

There was little to nothing out there then.

Maybe he tended to choose and groom economically poor kids by promising scholarships, good grades etc so they could advance etc. or kids without father figures etc.

It’s a psychological dance that only those who have gone thru it, can understand, sadly.

I don’t blame you for believing that there are no victims, but lets not make the impressionable youth victims again by saying how they should have been able to psychologically handle this kind of thing. Schools are very political.

Teachers, Administrators, Counselors are the school’s politicians and we all know how politicians get away with A LOT!

Funny schools don’t make a point to teach kids about this sort of mind control so they can keep their playground going!

Look at the crap they’re introducing in the classrooms nowadays!

My son was in a class about how to study for college and was given the survey of sexual confusion ‘Gender Bred’.

    WTH!

They’re trying to instill sexual confusion where there perhaps is none in a class that doesn’t even have anything to do with sexuality!!!

    SICK!

  20. What school district had Genderbread in the how to study for college curriculum.

  21. thanks Sweded…………makes sense ….I have a better understanding now..

some great comments here….all educational..thanks to Mark,Emmy, karma FC and Cindy

I hope he gets a roommate named BUbba

  22. these wrestlers were of an age where they know better or at least should have known better….

so if they went along with Dennises queer program they must have been queer also…

    or queer leaning…..

    Wow, wow, wow.

    Unbelievable. You should be embarrassed.

The above figure [296 educators] is almost entirely in public schools.

There are additional crimes in private schools, Catholic schools, Lutheran Schools, swim clubs, sports clubs, preschool, daycare, before school programs, after school programs, etc.

Once again, Mark wants to distort the truth, in an attempt to attack the public school system.

Please tell us exactly what the breakdown is of public school vs non-public school numbers.

And THEN tell us the number of total public school educators vs non-public school educators.

And THEN we can have a discussion on how public schools are so much more evil.

I’ll take a look at some of these numbers:
131,777. That is what one site (http://teaching.about.com/od/ProfilesInEducation/a/Illinois-Education.htm) uses as the number of public school teachers in IL.

So 296 would be 0.2% of public school teachers.

And that 131,777 number only includes public school teachers, and not administrators, maintenance, etc. And that number doesn’t include non-public school teachers and educators.

I don’t have the number of private school teachers, but we know that there are roughly 2,083,097 public school students and 294,924 private school students.

So lets estimate that the number of private school teachers is about 14% of public school teachers. (and, remember, this only includes k-12, and not pre-k, etc).

So we could “reasonably” expect that about 41 of those 296 were from private institutions.

So what is that number, Mark?

Or would you prefer to continue to try and baselessly attack public schools?

FWIW, there are roughly 400,000 sex offenders in the US.

Which is about 0.12% of the US population.

It would be “reasonable” to expect that the number would be higher among those that have direct and immediate access to children (such as teachers, in any setting).

In IL, “educators” (using Mark’s number of 296) are about twice as likely to be a sex offender as the general population, but with the access to children factored in, that skews the numbers somewhat.

Further, some studies estimate that 1-5% of adults molest children.

So it doesn’t appear that educators are that much more likely to sexually molest kids than anyone else.

And I don’t see ANY data that says that public school teachers are more likely to molest kids than those in private educational settings.

Also, I sure can’t wait for you to rail about the evils of the Catholic Church.

Oh wait – that doesn’t fit your anti-union/anti-public school narrative?

  23. Once again I am not anti-union.

I am against the union not doing more to address this problem.

I never said educators are more likely to molest, public or private.

I am doing the best I can to protect kids by exposing what I have learned, which is more than anyone else has done in this state.

And I am not anti public education.

I am not going to rubber stamp everything that occurs in public education.

So you think the unions have done enough to address this issue?

What are you doing, just minimizing the issue.

    I distorted nothing.

I revealed what I have learned.

What do you know about the issue to claim I distorted numbers.

What numbers do you have about molesters in Illinois Public Schools.

  24. The neo-cons did Hastert in on phony Patriot Act money “crimes” heh, heh w/drawing his own money to pay a piper w/ hush-money.

This was done as retribution for the central bankers throwing Eric Cantor and Aaron Shock out of the fetid halls of congress.

Dennis “the boy-menace” Hastert’s past was well known to the bankers who used it to manage the Rat-speaker.

But some of the central bankers jumped ship to the neo-cons and passed on details of Hastert’s past.

  25. What do you know about the issue to claim I distorted numbers.

I know the numbers that you shared (and I’m assuming that they’re true, despite your record of previous inaccuracies and distortions).

And then I found more numbers to provide more context.

YOU have made the assertion that the problem is largely a public school problem, yet you have not given ANY data to back that up.

  26. I did not make the assertion the problem is primarily a public school problem.

And I have no record of distortion.

Your numbers provide no context about the number of public school employees found guilty of sex crimes.

  27. Your numbers provide no context about the number of public school employees found guilty of sex crimes.

They provided more context than you did.

I did not make the assertion the problem is primarily a public school problem.

Then what did this claim mean:

“The above figure [At least 296 educators have been found guilty of sex crimes in Illinois] is almost entirely in public schools.”

And, once again, you provide ZERO facts to back up this assertion.

And I have no record of distortion.

LOL. Okay. And almost every time I point out some of your many distortions, you ignore it.

  28. You gave no statstics of sex crimes in Illinois public schools.

    I did.

So how can your statstics provide more context than mine.

The claim meant what it says.

At least 296 Illinois educators (public school employees) have been found guilty of sex crimes

You and all the other readers will get the facts in the upcoming weeks and months.

Feel free to point out a distortion.

  29. At least 296 Illinois educators (public school employees) have been found guilty of sex crimes

Wait… now you’re saying that ALL 296 were public school employees?

That is not what you said previously.

Were are you getting your 296 number from?

And why did you previously say that “most” of them were public school employees, but now you say all of them were?

    Which one is it?

  30. There are over 300 public school employees that have been found guilty of sex crimes.

  31. foregot to include Illinois.

There are over 300 Illinois public school employees that have been found guilty of sex crimes.
