Steve Reick Goes after Jack Franks on Fake Republican Challenger

The McHenry County League of Women Voters took on two state representative districts and one state senate district Thursday night.

None of them overlapped, so about three-fourths of county residents were in play.

First up was the 63rd State Rep. District.

That’s the one in which Democrat Jack Franks has served six terms since beyond the three he promised when he first ran in 1998.

That’s the district in which Democrats have put up Jeff Lichte, a man who had Jack Franks’ yard sign in front of his house when Google street photographer was out front in the fall of 2014 and one who just couldn’t make it to the League meeting.

The League allowed a statement to be read on his behalf in which he claimed to be “the guy nobody sent.”

He said he was against term limits, but made no comment about Franks’ nine terms in office.

Continuing, the statement from the man who no one can remember attending any Republican event, read,

“I’m the only Republican who can win in November.”

In his two-minute rebuttal the real Republican candidate, Steve Reick, got off this great good line:

“Jack Franks can write him a nice two minute statement, can’t he?”

Reick pointed out that the Democrats put Litche on the ballot.

“He’s not a Republican, folks.

“He puts Jack Franks’ signs on his yard and drives Jack Franks’ car in parades.”

Then it was “Time’s up” for Reick and the stage was occupied by the four candidates running for Mike Tryon’s State Rep. seat.

Steve Reick Goes after Jack Franks on Fake Republican Challenger — 5 Comments

  1. So Reick was granted the same floor time as the guy who didn’t show up…

    “the guy nobody sent.”

    – Who never arrived.

    – Who is nowhere to be found.

    – Who has no campaign website.

    – Does he even have a campaign sign in front of his own house?

    – Does he have one supporter?

    – Who no Republican has ever heard from.

    – Who has no endorsements from any known Republicans or even unknown Republicans.

    Yet,

I’m the only Republican who can win in November.

Even though he’s been voting Democrat in past elections.

  2. Is this where we can talk about the candidates for the 66th? Because that was a sad bunch.

You had Serwatka, who got too nervous to talk he got sick. But before then, decided it was better to angrily attack each of his opponents rather than about any substance that he believed in.

You had Skillicorn, who kept shouting, and also making up facts (really?

Madigan has only scheduled 10 session days this year? where does he get this crap?)

You had Willbrandt, who by far sounded the smartest and most reasonable, but was also unprepared to talk about much substance.

And you had Schofield, who was far and away the most prepped and best prepared.

But also was excellent at refusing to take much of a position on much of anything.

    Also, the questions were terrible.

No questions on unions, no questions on pensions, no questions on any social issues, and barely even any questions on any of the substance in the Rauner Turnaround Agenda.

  3. Actually, there will be a separate article on the 66th State Rep. District.

    Probably this weekend.

  4. Serwatka had the flu and was coughing up a lung in the restroom.

He’s not nervous at all in front of crowds.

Schofield was the weakest most shallow candidate and a bit of a joke.

She was so happy she got a question on consolidation because she did a presentation on that to the county Board.

Is she that much of a whack adobo that she doesn’t realize she failed miserably at that presentation?

  5. As far as Reick’s fake republican opponent put up by Jack Franks, I say if you don’t show up you lose your right to address the crowd.

County board member McCann didn’t show up or offer an excuse.

    She’s out, a loser.

So it should go for Lichte.

Reick got applause BEFORE his opening and only statement, just because he showed up.

Next election I’d like to see another group do the forum or hold debates.

The League is outdated and no longer relevant and frankly they don’t do a bang up job.

    We can do better.
