Scott Summers Files for Congress as a Green
Just-resigned McHenry County College Board President Scott Summers filed as the Green Party candidate for congress in the 16th congressional district mid-afternoon Monday.
Harvard’s Summers will be running against incumbent Republican Don Manzullo (R-Leaf River) and Democratic Party challenger Robert Abboud, the village president of Barrington Hills.
Summers was virtually unknown in the southeastern part of McHenry County until he expressed his doubts as to the wisdom of building a baseball stadium on MCC property.
His name identification is undoubtedly much higher now than before that meeting and his and MCC board member Donna Kurtz’ censure by four of the other five elected college board members.
