There were so many messages yesterday.

The first warm day of spring.

As I was driving toward Crystal Lake’s Main Beach on Dole Avenue, I saw a postman walking toward me wearing shorts.

How long has it been warm enough to wear shorts?

(Yes, I know my postman Chris O’Reilly—now on disability leave for a knee operation—worn shorts sometimes during this winter, but he doesn’t walk; he drives a truck.)

Anyway, I didn’t get a picture of the postman in shorts so I circled around the block and didn’t manage to snap a picture until he was sitting on the tailgate of his mail van.

Knowing that he would wonder who that crazy guy was that took his photo, I drove across Dole Avenue on Eagle Street and told him that he was going to be my “Message of the Day.”

Shorts.

Glorious shorts!

The postman’s name is Ron Hallquest.
