Message of the Day – A Color
And the color is yellow. That’s the color of my flowers of choice.
The reason is simple.
I have a hard time seeing pastels.
Even red gives me a problem.
That’s probably because I am red-green colorblind.
Hint: be wary of me at any intersection where the traffic lights are not vertical.
In any event, I like yellow flowers because I can see them vividly.
If the other colors are as vivid to other people as yellow is to me, we live in a beautiful world.

Dear Cal,
I am a sociologist with a non-commercial website about floral customs around the world. Today I featured your beautiful post about yellow flowers (linking back to you), and let it be a lead-in to a short discussion about color-blindness and its impact on the appreciation of flowers.

I hope you will be pleased.
Happy spring,

Cal,
I wish you had been following the Cary elections. I'm sure Jack Schaffer will be happy to fill you in. You may wish to read the Cary sign ordinance then check the sign at Great Bank and the new sign at Walgreens in Cary. You'll have fun with this one...and, you're sure to get a kick out of the two mailers the "Village" sent out within two weeks before the election. The first being the FIRST "Annual Report", a full color glossy mailer covering fiscal year 2005/06 mailed in April 2007, with photographs of board members in it who were not on the board for the time the report covered! That mailer was follwed by the village newsletter arriving 2/3 days before the election. Then there were the incumbent Hill's signs placed in parkways the evening before the election and Trustee Kierna's illuminated sign on Route 14. It was clear the "rules" did not apply to the incumbents.

If you will send me what you think should have wider coverage about the Cary election, I'll try to play catch-up.
