Jim McAuliff Tapped to Run Against Bianchi

Monday I told you that I would have more information about who is running against McHenry County State’s Attorney Lou Bianchi later this week.

So, here it is.

Three impeccable sources have told me that Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Jim McAuliff, Jr., is planning to announce his candidacy for McHenry County State’s Attorney on St. Patrick’s Day.

That’s this Saturday.

Sounds like an appropriate day for a candidate with an Irish ancestry.

The "in" crowd, of course, has known for months.

All the rumors seems to trace back to certain defense attorneys who don't like the different mode of operation since Gary Pack left office.

I’m told that McAuliff served in the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office before working in Cook County. McAuliff left shortly after current State’s Attorney Bianchi took office.

He has been licensed to practice law since 1975.

There is a James McAuliff from Richmond listed in the phone book.

There is more to this looming contest, however.

There is a wish fulfillment among the opponents to Bianchi’s re-election.

More about that in a subsequent article.
