The Best Tax Is One Someone Else Pays

As I suggested last Monday when McHenry County Blog was the first news source to reveal that McHenry County College was planning to build an minor league baseball stadium, people living outside of the junior college district would get a free ride for the regional facility.

Now, one of those “free riders,” Algonquin resident and Daily Herald columnist Amy Mack, says the stadium she would not have to help pay for is a wonderful idea.

Here are her exact words:

Now on deck

It’s intriguing to hear a minor league baseball team could come to McHenry County via a joint effort with McHenry County College. Though some taxpayers might prefer it to be a private vs. public venture, I think it makes sense and could actually offset costs for taxpayers. Baseball enthusiasts have been looking for the right spot for a minor league stadium for some years and, at one time, took a hard look at Algonquin, among other locations.
It would seem to me that the right spot for any type of a stadium would be in a gravel pit, where bleachers could be build along walls that already exist.
