Lori Phelps Charges Mayor Aaron Shepley with Conflict of Interest on New Hospital

Below is the press release issued by Lori Phelps, who filed today for Mayor of Crystal Lake:
Lifelong Crystal Lake resident Lori Phelps, wife of Park Commissioner David Phelps, has filed her candidacy petition today to challenge Mayor Aaron Shepley in the spring election next year.

“For years I have grown increasingly disappointed with the Mayor’s diminishing commitment to the people of Crystal Lake.

"The recent Mercy Hospital situation brought to light how our Mayor has put the people’s needs second to his employment. His position at Centegra Hospital is a definite conflict of interest.

"Crystal Lake deserves a Mayor who will listen, care, and fight for their needs, especially when it comes to healthcare.

"The fact that Mayor Shepley had to recuse himself from the City Council consideration of the Mercy Hospital proposal is completely unacceptable.

"The people of Crystal Lake deserve a mayor who will work tirelessly to answer their needs, deriving solutions instead of promoting road blocks….that’s called Leadership.

“Should I be successful on April 17th, on April 18th, I will be on the phone to Springfield to make arrangements to meet with officials to support the fact that another hospital in the Crystal Lake area is absolutely needed. I am willing to put my time, talent and energy into making this need materialize.”

Anyone wishing to assist with the campaign, please consider displaying a small yard sign in early April. Letters to the Editor of any newspaper is appreciated as well. Any other type of support or help is welcomed as well.

There is certainly no doubt that Shepley actively campaign to kill Mercy's Crystal Lake hospital proposal. He was even in the Woodstock courtroom when the judge ruled against it.

To Steve Payton, whose comment I have deleted.

First I looked in the phone book and could not find your name.

Then, I showed your comments to my wife, who knows HIPAA pretty well, and she said, "No."

So, assuming you know what HIPAA says, you will understand why your comment is no longer posted.
