Yesterday when I drove to the courthouse, the West End of Crystal Lake was open water.

Here’s what I saw this afternoon after picking up my son from school.

There was a flock of geese that took off as I was standing on the lake side of the West Beach House. If I had had more available exposures, I probably could have gotten a better shot than this.

So, my guess is that Crystal Lake froze over Monday or Monday night while we were experiencing single-digit temperatures.

I wonder if it will melt as the temperatures move higher.

Last Saturday morning, I took a dawn photo of very thin ice patches from Lakewood’s Gate 3 Beach.

They had melted by that afternoon, but the lake was frozen at least a third of the way down from the east end Main Beach Monday afternoon.
