Huntley School District 158 One of Chicago Crime Commission’s Targets

McHenry County Blog asked this question Tuesday:
And, what if the Huntley School District is one of the six parts of the Chicago Crime Commission's report to the U.S. Attorney and FBI?
Enterprising Daily Herald reporter Jeffrey Gaunt went to Jim Wagner, Executive Director of the Chicago Crime Commission, and discovered that Huntley School District 158 is indeed on of the local governmental entities about which investigative information has been forwarded to the U.S. Attorney’s Office and the FBI.

So, it’s not just school board member Larry Snow that thinks some hanky-panky has occurred in the Huntley School District.

Speaking of the Chicago Crime Commission’s foray into the collar counties, Wagner told Gaunt,
The goal was to see if there were people who wanted to talk to us about illegal acts.

Frankly, we were amazed at the number of people who did come forward.
On the agenda tonight at the Huntley School Board is the forensic audit for which Snow could not get a second in mid-June. The meeting starts at 6:30.

And, since I'm still finding people who don't know how to contact the Chicago Crime Commission with information about local governmental inproprieties, here's how to do it:

People may call 312-372-0101. There is also a way to communicate by email on the web site.

Now, two observations about the "light" daily newspaper coverage of the Chicago Crime Commission’s investigations in McHenry County.

Today’s is the first article that the Daily Herald has run.

The Northwest Herald did not run an article until 2 days after the Chicago Crime Commission’s press conference.

At this link are the articles McHenry County Blog ran on the Chicago Crime Commission’s probe before the day of the press conference.

Finally, if a tree falls in McHenry County and the local dailies don’t write an article, did the tree really fall?

Comments:
D158's "presence" in the eye of the CCC is quite interesting.

Here's hoping those 3 letters morph into FB "Eye"!

There are times when regular Joes and Jeans just can't break through the walls that are put between the public and the truth and it takes a stronger hand.

D158's history isn't about "The Little District That Could"...it's about the (now roughly) $60 million district that didn't - as in didn't have proper internal controls in place and when it was brought to the District's attention by its (taxpayers' money) paid outside auditors - that amazing finding sure seemed to be ignored.

Some of the findings were so basic and things that private business owners and accountants have "always" known.

It's about "missing" or non-existent records. It's about a lot of things including dropped educational plans and people who lost their jobs, and cuts, etc.

I raise my glass and tip my hat to people who demand the truth from public servants and elected officials entrusted with their money and their children.
It's not the easiest path but it is surely one that should be taken.
