CPA Tony Quagliano Chosen to Fill Huntley School District 158 Board Vacancy
While this magnificent sunset could be seen across the District 158 parking lot, the Majority 5, minus one, were taking a bigGULPand deciding to appoint Certified Public Accountant Tony Quagliano to fill the vacancy created with the board’s appointment of Glen Stewart, the sixth member of its Majority Six team, to a $101,000 administrative school post.
Can you imagine the swallowing of all sorts of emotions among the Majority 5, minus one? After all, they selected the man who had educated them and the public on the error of the ways of the referendum committee and board members who supported the disastrous referendum campaign that resulted in such horrendous publicity?
Actually, Quagliano did not uncover what was described as a “debacle” (after a leading question) by some applicants all by himself.
Larry Snow and he did it.
Nevertheless, Quagliano got the appointment over four other applicants:
· Roger Henderson, manager of the Ace Hardware store in Crystal Lake and whose wife is a Huntley school district kindergarten teacher,· John Jonen, a special education teacher in Hoffman Estates,
· Derek Martin, a Rockford Airport administrator, and
· Michael Andre, a technical writer.
“He was the right man for the time,” was the way newly appointed school superintendent John Burkey put it as I talked to him after the seating of the new school board member."Be careful what you ask for,"Qualiano quipped after the meeting.
All of the Majority Five, except Kim Skaja, voted for Quagliano, as did Snow.
My wish fulfillment is that the Huntley School District has a sunrise of cooperation as spectacular as the sunset I viewed while its school board was deliberating behind closed doors on whom to select as Stewart’s replacement.

1. Excellent sunset photo Cal.
2. Quagliano got the nod, how about that!
It will be interesting to see how this changes things.

Has Hell frozen over or have people been reading your BLOG and decided we can't be right so they must vote Tony in? Now if Tony and Larry can convince to others to run they could have a fiscally responsible controlling majority on the board.

Notes:
1. Grapevine says that during the public question and answer period Mr. Henderson indicated that his wife was a kindergarten teacher and involved with the union. It is my understanding, correct me if inaccurate, that she is not only involved but is actually the President of the Teachers Union (HEA)in D158.
If this omission happened under the pressure of the moment, it might show that omissions can work against you as well as for you.
It would be interesting to be that famous fly on the wall to know which one it was in this case.
2. Ah, well, here's a tip of the hat to Tony Quagliano, accurate numbers, open and honest communication and better opportunities for the D158 kids and financial accountability to the residents.

Here's one for the home team!! How telling that Skaja who has sat on the board for over 10 years did not vote for Quigliano....did she abstain from voting, or did she vote no? Either way, it says ALOT about her supposed "for the kids" philosophy she blathers out of one side of her mouth, while letting a fellow board member step right into a $100K a year job before resigning from the board...and whereby he voted his OWN boss, ie Terry Awery a raise before taking his new position....uh huh....for the kids...uh huh...Mr. Stewart, the BEST man....uh huh....seems to me that because there has been so much fiscal irresponsibility in d158, the only way the irresponsiblity could be perpetuated was to put someone in the vacated position who would "play the game" of lying by omission! And this is the BEST they could do....uh huh.
