School Superintendent’s $600 Contribution to District 300 Tax Hike Committee Kept Secret
Would it have made any difference to Carpentersville District 300 referendum
voters if they had known that Superintendent Ken Arndt gave $600 about a month before election day?
We’ll never know, because Advance 300 failed to report the February 22nd contribution until July 26th.
State law says that any contribution over $500 from February 19th through election day should have been reported within two days of its receipt.
So, Advance 300 was only about 5 months late.
I wonder if anyone will file a complaint with the State Board of Elections. (And, if a reader does, please let me know.)
Whether the $600 contribution had any affect on this week’s School Board vote for $14,500 pay raise, $50 increase in monthly allowance and $1,000 annual increase in deferred compensation is unknown.

No name calling necessary Cal. These facts say more than any witticism on a blog.
As to the idea of a superintendent, the position is really quite pointless. If the super had the authority to make any substantive changes, he/she might warrant their salary.
Under Illinois law and teacher union bullying, superintendents have little or no power. Regardless of the indivdual's skill level, they really cannot effect meaningful change, so why pay them at all?
We could hire mannequins to do the job. A well groomed mannequin could probably pass through most education curricula (especially if clad in a sporty sweater). It would save us bundles, and we wouldn't need a car budget either.

Speaking of name calling.. wher are our friends the tax hike appologists? They need to come and explain how this is for the Kids....
They need to justify why a superintendent who couldn't get a contract for two years, much less a raise, all of the sudden has his performance turn around so dramatically to warrant this raise
Oh yeah.. it's because it is for the Kids!

Are we all getting a severe case of the Cassandra Complex right about now? We all knew stuff like this would happen. Unfortunately we failed to communicate this effectively to the voters.
The worst is, while one can hope such atrocious behavior will convince the next victim town to tell their educrats to stuff it, it never seems to. People will believe almost anything, and the next poor community will hear some line like "That was Huntley, it would never happen HERE".
The ability of post-amoeba life forms to believe that line is a source of continual disappointment, but it does seem to be the case.
