Reporter Doesn’t Like Having His Picture Taken

When I was talking to the gentle Christian demonstrators, a young man, tape recorder in hand--obviously a reporter—objected to my taking his picture.

He said he was from the Northwest Herald. His name was Mike Gibbs.

I didn’t have a tape recorder, so if what is below is incorrect, I shall be happy to print what he really said, if he'll let me listen to the tape.

What I remembered was,
We take your pictures. You don’t take ours.
I know the 1st Amendment gives the media a lot of power, but I don’t think it goes that far.Let’s see if Gibbs can keep his perspective when he writes the story about the Christians banished to the “First Amendment Participation Area.” I'll link to it tomorrow, if the Herald puts it on the internet.

I won't run a photo of his holding his clip board in front of his face.

The young man being interviewed is from the Tinley Park area.

Re: Assuming "We take your pictures. You don’t take ours." was said in a serious tone and not a comedic tone.....

Public area. America. Video cameras and still cameras all over the place. Cell phone cameras whatever they're called. "Star" chasers. And reporters who run up to distraught family members and (ex.) say "How do you feel right now that you just found out the terrible news about your loved ones in the mine......?" And people on the street taking photos of crimes or disasters as they happen - which media folks later fight to purchase.........

Northwest Herald huh?

Of course, maybe it was just his sense of humor........here's mine

"Get over yourself."
