District 300 Tax Hike Committee Fine Could Be $60 for Not Reporting Arndt $600 Contribution

I asked the State Board of Elections what Advance 300 might be fined for having failed to tell the public that School District 300 School Superintendent Ken Arndt contributed $600 on February 22nd.

The fine structure used to be so much a day and fines could quickly exceed the amount of the contribution. Now, the maximum fine is the amount given.

So, at most, Advance 300 will have to pay $600.

But, if it does not have previous violations, a first time offense usually results in a fine of 10% of the donation.

Of course, if not one complains, there will probably be no fine.

Arndt, by the way, is not in any way responsible for his contribution not having been made public in a timely fashion.

At least the District 300 tax hike committee did better than Pecatonica's tax hike committee, which did not report receiving one thin dime before referendum day.

Comments:
What I think is interesting about school tax increase PACs is that the law prefers to ignore their transgressions, even if it is not just one or two little slips. Politicians and well paid protectors of the law must have some reason for closing their eyes and ears.

Pile up the transgressions - the manipulations, the questionably ethical, or questionably legal tactics and still they get ignored/given a pass. And other Districts are encouraged to use the same methods. And those in power pretend to not notice the news articles, letters from residents, blogs, etc.

These tactics/omissions and technically legal but not really "right" moves change elections.

They take away the right of the public to know the whole truth and most people simply consider them "lies".

Of all the businesses/govt. entities in America you'd think that the Education Industry would be the leader in Integrity instead of just being part of the manipulative PACk.

I guess what's "for our kids" is the School Industry's "right" to teach them example how politics are REALLY handled - even as they hand them a textbook about ethics and demand respect?

Piggybanks,
You're right, politicians do have a reason for closing their eyes & ears...check out their campaign disclosures and see how many receive donations from teachers unions and education PACs
