Message of the Day – A Tee Shirt

Another tee shirt from the Old State Capitol Art Fair, held last weekend in Springfield.
Can you guess what
wysiwygmeans?
I had no clue.
It’s
What You See Is What You GetMale or female?

I think it is an old computer term. I remember hearing it for the first time over 10 years ago. Something to do with what you saw on the screen was what it would like printed. Wordprocessing I think. (of course don't quote me, I'm not an expert! : )
What did you mean by male or female?

Thanks for the giant chuckle!
With school districts, it's more likely "Now you see it. Now you don't."
D158 counted "phantom" buses and expected funds for them. It counted daily attendance for days when there wasn't school and expected funds for them. Etc.
Now D300 is setting up the public and the media to "understand" about the enrollment numbers that were predicted but apparently (after the tax increase vote) aren't going to happen. Gosh, golly. Developers came and developers went said the first salvo. The second load is questioning the accuracy of the Ehlers report versus the Kasarda record of accuracy.
It's "funny" that the only ones publicly questioning the projections and accuracy BEFORE the vote were the "critics" who were right about - EAV missing in the future years' projections, charter money missing in the future years' projections, and, oh, yes, the state aid amount that the district estimated as low as possible without actually going to zero....

Some folks pronounce it
Wizzy Wig
and it ties to monelson's explanation.

I have come to the conclusion that D300 will probably illustrate what is really wrong with education today. It is becoming clear that many of the assumptions of the referendum were wrong. This may well leave them with excess funds against current obligations. What will they do? Like most politicians, will they sock it away for a rainy day, wipe out the deficiet and use it to lower taxes in the long run?
I think I know your answer and it's mine too... too bad they will trip all over themselves to dole it out to the men with the nice suits and shinny shoes that come a cortin to the school board meetings!
Will they really deliver on lower class sizes? or be too busy spending the excess?

Donna has it right. This came from the orginal days of Macintosh (Apple) computers. It refers to the visual interface, where "what you see" on the screen "is what you get" on the page when you print it. Perhaps one can read too much into these things...hmm?
