Northwest Herald Headline: “Developers' dollars to go to schools” – Not About Campaign Donations
I saw the headline, “Developers' dollars to go to schools,” on the Northwest Herald’s web site and thought the dominant daily had finally done a story on the over $50,000 that had been given to the Woodstock District 200 tax hike committee. (Here’s what I found: story one, story two.)
But, no such luck.
It was an article about the Village of Greenwood’s having joined Woodstock and Wonder Lake in passing a transition fee ordinance. The so-called “lag fees” help schools pay for new student needs before property taxes start flowing from new homes. Greenwood’s will be $4,000 per home, as does Woodstock, the article says, but Wonder Lake only charges $3,000.
Maybe there’s going to be a big front page story on Sunday.
